Individual Therapy FAQs
What can I expect during my first therapy session?
Your first session is an opportunity for you and your therapist to get to know each other. Your therapist will ask questions about your background, current concerns, goals, and what brought you to therapy. There is no pressure to share everything right away — therapy is a process, and we move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
How do I know if individual therapy is right for me?
Therapy can be helpful for anyone looking for support, insight, healing, or personal growth. You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people seek therapy to better manage stress, relationships, life transitions, emotions, or patterns that no longer feel helpful.
How do I choose the right therapist?
Our intake team works closely with you to understand your needs, preferences, schedule, and goals so we can thoughtfully match you with a therapist who feels like the right fit. We know the therapeutic relationship matters deeply, and we take the matching process seriously.
What if I don’t feel connected to my therapist?
Finding the right therapist is important. If something does not feel like the right fit, we encourage open communication and are happy to help explore a different match within our practice.
Do you offer virtual therapy?
Yes. We offer secure telehealth sessions in addition to in-person therapy at our office locations. Many clients choose virtual therapy for added flexibility and convenience.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. We accept most major commercial insurance plans. Our intake team can help verify your benefits and explain any potential out-of-pocket costs before your first appointment.
How often will I meet with my therapist?
Most clients begin with weekly sessions, though the frequency may vary depending on your needs, goals, schedule, and treatment plan.
How long does therapy take?
There is no one-size-fits-all timeline for therapy. Some clients seek short-term support around a specific challenge, while others engage in longer-term therapy for deeper healing and personal growth.
Can I benefit from therapy even if I’m not in crisis?
Absolutely. Therapy is not only for moments of crisis. Many people attend therapy to improve relationships, better understand themselves, manage stress, build coping skills, or create healthier patterns in their lives.
Do you work with children and teens?
Yes. Our clinicians work with young children, adolescents, teens, and families, using developmentally appropriate and evidence-based approaches tailored to each child’s needs.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Therapy is confidential, with a few legal and ethical exceptions related to safety concerns, abuse, or court orders. Your therapist will review confidentiality policies with you during your first session.
What if I don’t know how to talk about my feelings?
That’s completely okay. You do not need to have the “right words” to start therapy. Your therapist will help guide the conversation and create a supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions comfortably.
How quickly can I get scheduled?
Appointment availability varies by clinician, specialty, and location, but our intake team works hard to connect clients with available therapists as quickly as possible.
What ages do you work with?
We work with clients across the lifespan, including young children, teens, young adults, adults, couples, families, and older adults.
