Jen Barclay, M.Ed., M.S.
she/her/hers
I am a teacher turned therapist offering both in-person and virtual sessions for children, teens, and adults. My clinical approach is grounded in warmth, honesty, and curiosity, focusing on helping clients better understand the patterns, experiences, and emotions that manifest as disturbances in daily life. I received my Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Merrimack College and also have a Master’s of Education from the University of Hong Kong. Having lived abroad for much of my life, I bring a broad cultural perspective and an appreciation for how identity, environment, family dynamics, and life experiences shape how we move through the world. My experiences living in different places have strengthened my ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds and approach each client with openness, curiosity, and cultural sensitivity.
As a Person-Centered clinician, I view therapy as something that should be tailored to the client rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. I strive to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen, supported, and able to explore themselves openly without judgment. I am especially drawn to working with children and adolescents navigating emotional overwhelm, trauma, anxiety, depression, identity development, relationship challenges, and difficult life transitions. My work is informed by attachment-based, trauma-informed, mindfulness and somatic perspectives, with the understanding that our experiences often live not only in our thoughts, but also in our bodies, relationships, and ways of coping.
