MICHELLE HUGHES, LMHC
Director of Clinical Hiring & Development
Michelle Hughes serves as the Director of Hiring and Development Operations at Verge Therapy, where she leads the systems and processes responsible for building and developing Verge’s clinical team. In this role, Michelle focuses on identifying exceptional clinicians, guiding thoughtful hiring decisions, and supporting the continued professional growth of therapists across the organization.
Michelle plays a key role in maintaining Verge’s values-driven culture as the practice grows. She works closely with leadership to ensure that recruitment, onboarding, and clinician development remain aligned with Verge’s commitment to strong clinical care, relational work, and ethical practice. Her work helps ensure that clinicians joining the organization are not only highly capable but also deeply aligned with the culture and standards that define Verge Therapy.
In addition to her leadership responsibilities, Michelle is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor providing individual therapy through Verge Therapy on a telehealth basis. Her clinical work focuses on supporting adolescents and adults navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, life transitions, and interpersonal challenges.
Michelle’s therapeutic approach is grounded in attachment-based and relational frameworks, with an emphasis on understanding how early experiences and relational patterns shape present-day functioning. She integrates evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, and psychodynamic perspectives to support clients in developing greater insight, resilience, and self-understanding.
Michelle brings experience across a range of levels of care, including community-based outpatient treatment, residential adolescent treatment at McLean Hospital, and crisis intervention services supporting survivors of sexual violence. These experiences have shaped her strong belief that meaningful change occurs within safe, supportive relationships.
Whether working with clients or contributing to Verge’s leadership team, Michelle is committed to fostering environments where people feel supported, respected, and empowered to grow.
